Patrik Kühnen believes in new tennis boom
through interactive training tools

The three-time Davis Cup winner and team captain Patrik Kühnen and the Munich-based sports tech start-up Fun with Balls are now working together to get children and teenagers excited about tennis and to encourage them to exercise. MultiBall is designed to help you get started and learn tennis in a fun way.

“MultiBall” is an interactive sports, game and learning system that connects digital games with all ball sports. For MultiBall there are 35 games and exergaming apps offering a varied sporting experience thanks to visual and auditory elements, increasing levels of difficulty and easy-to-understand gameplay. The games are played with balls that are thrown, shot or played with rackets.

“We used to train on a concrete wall. Thanks to MultiBall, there is now a way to introduce children to tennis in a playful way. The unique thing is that you have to hit moving targets and get visual feedback. In this way, we create a bridge between the digital world and real sport to make it easier to get started, keep motivation high and train skills in a targeted manner, ”says Patrik Kühnen.

Physical gaming has the potential to combat modern society’s lack of physical activity

Gamification is one of the biggest up-and-coming trends of the sports industry at the moment. Sport and fitness games are built on the premise of getting fit by having fun. These interactive games require the user to apply full-body motion to participate in technology-driven physical activities.

The concept behind „Exergaming“ takes the passion for gaming and turns what was once considered a sedentary behavior into a potentially more active and healthy activity.

Creating a positive experience with exercise and learning for kids is not always a simple task. With Multiball, it makes the motivation part much easier, especially with adults and kids who are usually more skeptical of exercise or new approaches to passing their free time. The approach of coupling physical and mental activity is a very efficient way to keep the kids’ productively engaged and bodily active.
